Zentyal Team is pleased to celebrate today the 7th anniversary of Zentyal, the Linux small business server! Zentyal was first launched in 2005, under the name of eBox Platform, and since then it has grown into a full IT infrastructure management solution for small and medium businesses (SMBs) and organizations.
During the past year Zentyal has advanced more than ever in its goal of providing SMBs an easy-to-use and affordable IT infrastructure solution. The single most important milestone was the over $1 million investment in the company by Open Ocean Capital, a leading investor in community and open source business. Other important events include a partnership agreement with Canonical that guarantee official Canonical | Ubuntu support for commercial Zentyal server editions, establishment of the Board of Directors to steer the business and product development, or celebration of the Zentyal Summit 2012.
All this has happened keeping in mind our commitment to continuous growth and improvement of our product and service offering – Therefore the year 2012 has been a year of major strides also in terms of product development. Zentyal server 3.0 was released last October: based on Ubuntu 12.04 and offering Samba4, Single Sign-On and improved Zarafa integration among other important features, it has made Zentyal server a drop-in replacement for the Active Directory. Moreover, there have been major improvements in the Zentyal Remote, a remote monitoring and management platform for both servers and desktops, and big steps have been taken with Zentyal Cloud development to offer in the next months cloud services fully integrated with Zentyal server.
As a logical step related to the changes in the products and services offering, Zentyal has also launched a new commercial offering and a new partnership program, easier and more suitable for IT support and service providers interested in embracing the managed IT service model. There are already more than 30 official Zentyal partners worldwide and the partner network is growing strong.
And last, but not least, we have given a warm welcome to Fluffy as our official mascot! It has been an exciting year and the Zentyal Team is looking forward to yet another thrilling year, that will take us closer to our goal of turning Zentyal into the easy IT infrastructure solution of choice for small and medium businesses!¡El equipo de Zentyal se complace en celebrar hoy el 7º aniversario de Zentyal, el servidor Linux para pymes! Zentyal fue lanzado por primera vez en 2005, bajo el nombre de eBox Platform, y desde entonces ha crecido hasta convertirse en una solución completa de gestión de infraestructura TIC para pequeñas y medianas empresas y organizaciones.
Durante el año pasado, Zentyal ha avanzado más que nunca en su objetivo de proporcionar a las pymes una herramienta fácil de usar y asequible para la solución de su infraestructura TIC. El hito más importante fue la inversión en la empresa de más de $1 millón por parte de Open Ocean Capital, una destacada empresa de capital riesgo que invierte en negocios basados en comunidades de usuarios o de código abierto. Otros hitos importantes incluyen un acuerdo con Canonical -que garantiza soporte oficial de Canonical | Ubuntu para las ediciones comerciales del servidor Zentyal-, la creación de la Consejo de Dirección para guiar el desarrollo de negocio y de producto, o la celebración del Zentyal Summit 2012.
Todo esto sucede en sintonía con el compromiso de crecimiento y mejora continua de nuestra oferta de productos y servicios, lo que significa que el año 2012 ha sido un año de importantes avances también en términos de desarrollo de producto. Zentyal Server 3.0 fue lanzado en octubre pasado: basada en Ubuntu 12.04, ofreciendo Samba4, Single Sign-On y una integración mejorada de Zarafa, entre otras características importantes, hace del servidor Zentyal un sustituto completo de Active Directory. Por otra parte, se han producido importantes mejoras en Zentyal Remote, una plataforma de monitorización y gestión remota de servidores y escritorios, y se han dado grandes pasos en el desarrollo de Zentyal Cloud para ofrecer en los próximos meses servicios de nube completamente integrados con el servidor Zentyal.
Como paso lógico relacionado con los cambios en los productos y servicios que ofrece, Zentyal también ha puesto en marcha una nueva oferta comercial y un nuevo programa de partners, que ofrecer una forma más fácil y más conveniente para proveedores de servicios TIC interesados en adoptar el modelo de servicios TIC gestionados. Ya son más de 30 los partners oficiales de Zentyal en todo el mundo y la red de partners sigue creciendo favorablemente.
Y por último, pero no menos importante, ¡hemos dado la bienvenida a Fluffy, nuestra mascota oficial! En definitiva, ha sido un año muy emocionante. El equipo de Zentyal está a la espera de otro año igualmente apasionante, que nos seguirá acercando a nuestro objetivo de convertir a Zentyal en la fácil solución de infraestructura TIC preferida por las pequeñas y medianas empresas.
