Zentyal Server 6.2 Development Now Available

Zentyal Server Development Edition 6.2 Released

Zentyal Development Team today announced the availability of Zentyal Server Development Edition 6.2. This is a new minor community release of the Zentyal Linux Server, based on Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS. It focuses on improving the stability and security of the product and comes with the most recent versions of all the integrated software including latest stable SOGo and ClamAV versions and a number of bugfixes.

Zentyal Server is a popular Linux alternative to Windows Server®. It is used by large companies, public administrations and SMBs mostly as a domain and directory server and a file server. Thanks to the integration of Samba and Kerberos technologies, Zentyal manages Windows® clients transparently and it can be deployed as a native Windows Server replacement as standalone server or integrated in mixed environments (Windows and Zentyal Servers).

Important enhancements to Zentyal Server Development Edition 6.2 include:

  • Based on Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS
  • DNS – Improved management of the DNS records
  • CA – Improved management of CRLs
  • Webmail – Integration of the latest SOGo version (4.3.2)
  • Antivirus – Integration of latest version of ClamAV (0.102.2) available for Ubuntu 18.04, updated collection of signatures
  • AppArmor – Installed by default
  • Virt – Improved management of hard disks
  • DHCP – Improved management of network interfaces

Upgrading

To upgrade from Zentyal 6.1 to Zentyal 6.2, you have to have a fully updated Zentyal 6.1 version. Once you have updated your 6.1 server to the latest packages, you will see the upgrade button on the dashboard.

Even this is a minor upgrade, please keep in mind that upgrades are always risky. It is highly recommended to back up both the server and the data before moving forward with the upgrade process. Also, check out the upgrade documentation.
