- Upgrade the Zentyal Server 6.0 Development Edition easily to the newest 6.1 version
Zentyal Development Team announced today that the upgrade path to Zentyal Server Development Edition v. 6.1 is now available. The improved upgrade process will help existing Zentyal Server 6.0 Development Edition users to upgrade easily to the latest community release – Zentyal Server Development Edition 6.1, that was published on October 30th, 2019.
The upgrade process has been improved to ease the upgrades. As upgrades are always risky, it is good to remember that it is highly recommended to back up both the server and the data before moving forward with the upgrade. In addition, Zentyal Development Team has prepared the following upgrade checklist that users are recommended to follow. The official Zentyal Server 6.1 documentation, that will be published shortly, will include more detailed information.
Upgrade Checklist
(valid for upgrades from Zentyal Development Edition v. 6.0 to v. 6.1)
- Back up your server and data before upgrading
- Make sure that there are no errors in the /var/log/zentyal/zentyal.log file
- Make sure that there is space available on the disk
- Make sure that the server is updated
- Make sure that there are no broken packages
- Make sure that there are no errors in the internal Samba database or in the MySQL databases
- Make sure that you have Internet connectivity
- Click on the Upgrade button on the Dashboard
- Make sure that the packages have been updated
- Make sure that there are no broken packages
- Restart the server, check that there are no errors and that all the modules are working correctly
